You are invited to a presentation at the Special Collections Research Center:
Syracuse University Bird Library
222 Waverly Avenue, 6th Floor
12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
Friday, October 14, 2016
Join us to learn about the GI Bill and its influence on Syracuse University. This legislation offered a college education to millions of veterans returning from World War II. Under the leadership of Chancellor William Tolley, Syracuse University took the challenge of offering enrollment to significant numbers of veterans. Learn of the demand for more housing, classrooms, and programs. Hear Will LaMoy, Special Collections Librarian, tell of this defining time for Syracuse University. Friends and family members are invited to join us.
Learn about the extensive rare book collection held by Syracuse University on the sixth floor of Bird Library. In the past we have looked at the Library’s collection of materials on Albert Schweitzer, William Morris, the Arts and Crafts Movement and many other topics. This year we will begin with a docent-led tour of the Everson Museum of Art.
Please contact Ginny Dewey if you plan to attend.
